Pokémon 30th Anniversary Sets Announced

Pokémon 30th Anniversary Sets Announced

30 years of Pokémon. Man, that makes me feel old.

The Pokémon Company has officially revealed the English-language Pokémon TCG products coming for the 30th Celebration, and yeah, they have not gone small with this one. We are talking promos, sticker collections, tins, boxes, decks, binders, figure collections and Ultra-Premium Collections. Wallets everywhere just took 40 damage.

Here is a look at the first few products announced, starting with one of the smaller but still very collectible releases.

Tech Sticker Collection

Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration Tech Sticker Collection

The 30th Celebration Tech Sticker Collection comes in two versions: Lucario or Alolan Exeggutor. Each one includes 3 Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration booster packs, a foil promo card, and a matching tech sticker sheet.

Basically, you get a promo, some packs, and stickers that you will probably say you are going to use, then immediately keep sealed forever because Pokémon collectors are not normal people. I say that with love. Mostly.

Out of the two, Lucario is probably going to be the easier fan favourite, but Alolan Exeggutor is such a silly card that I kind of respect it. Long neck. Big vibes. No notes.

Poster Collection

The Poster Collection is looking like one of the better entry-level products for collectors. It includes 3 Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration booster packs, promo cards featuring Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres, plus a full-size two-sided poster.

Legendary birds as promos is a pretty strong move. This one feels like it could be popular with both sealed collectors and people who actually want to open something without taking out a small loan.

Pokémon ex Boxes

The Pokémon ex Boxes feature either Sylveon ex or Greninja ex. Each box includes a foil promo card, an oversized version of the promo, and 4 Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration booster packs.

Sylveon and Greninja are both very safe picks here. One is a massive fan favourite, the other is Greninja. That box is not exactly going to struggle.

Elite Trainer Box

The Elite Trainer Box is usually the main “I want to open the set properly” product, and this one looks no different. The 30th Celebration ETB includes 9 booster packs, a Nidorina illustration rare-style promo card, sleeves, energy cards, dice, dividers and the usual ETB extras.

The Nidorina promo is a bit of a curveball, but honestly, I like that. Not every anniversary product needs to be Charizard breathing fire directly into your bank account.

Booster Bundle

The Booster Bundle keeps things simple: 6 Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration booster packs and no extra fluff.

This is probably going to be one of the best products for people who just want packs. No binder, no coin, no giant card you pretend you know where to store. Just boosters. Clean.

Binder Collection

Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration Binder Collection

The Binder Collection includes a 9-pocket binder with 30th Celebration branding, plus 5 booster packs.

This is one of those products that sounds boring until you remember how many people will want a dedicated binder for the set. Very sensible. Very dangerous for stock levels.

Mini Tins

The 30th Celebration Mini Tins are also on the way, with 10 different designs to collect. Each tin includes 2 booster packs, a sticker sheet and an art card.

Mini tins always do well because they are affordable, collectible, and weirdly easy to justify buying. “It is only one tin” is how it starts. Then suddenly you are chasing all 10 and pretending that was the plan all along.

Battle Decks

There are two 30th Celebration Battle Decks coming too: Espeon ex and Umbreon ex. Each one is a ready-to-play 60-card deck with accessories included.

Umbreon being involved means this will almost certainly get attention. Pokémon could put Umbreon on a cardboard box full of air and someone would grade it.

Ditto Premium Collection

The Ditto Premium Collection includes a Ditto promo card, 8 booster packs and an acrylic display.

Ditto is a great choice for an anniversary product. Simple, nostalgic, and just weird enough to feel right.

Mew and Mewtwo Figure Collections

Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration Figure Collection—Mew & Mewtwo

The Mew and Mewtwo Figure Collections each include a promo card, an oversized card, a sculpted figure and 5 booster packs.

These are probably going to be some of the nicest display pieces from the whole lineup. Mew and Mewtwo still hit hard after all these years, and figures always make sealed boxes feel a bit more premium.

Ultra-Premium Collections

Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration Ultra-Premium Collection—Day & Night

Finally, we have the big ones: the 30th Celebration Ultra-Premium Collections. There are two versions, themed around Day and Night, featuring Pikachu ex alongside either Espeon ex or Umbreon ex.

These are the products collectors will be watching closely. Big box, premium promos, loads of packs, accessories, and probably a checkout experience that feels like trying to buy concert tickets in 2009.

The Pokémon TCG 30th Celebration range looks massive. Some products are clearly aimed at people who just want to open packs, while others are built for sealed collectors, promo hunters and anyone who enjoys making their shelves look financially irresponsible.

Personally, the products I would keep an eye on are the Tech Sticker Collections, Poster Collection, Booster Bundle, Mini Tins and the Ultra-Premium Collections. Those feel like the ones that could get the most attention early on.

As always, availability will be the real question. If this set gets the demand everyone expects, some of these products could disappear quickly.
