Bar chart of 30th Celebration card prices over the last 30 days, with chase cards down 36 to 46%

30th Celebration Card Prices Are Still Falling, Down Up to 46% in a Month

Prices for English 30th Celebration cards are still dropping. Pulse TCG's market data on the morning of 1 November shows the set's main special illustration rares down between 34% and 46% over the last 30 days. If you held off buying, the chase cards now cost between a third and nearly a half less than they did a month ago.

The chase cards

These are near mint English prices from Pulse TCG at 07:36 UK time on 1 November, with the change over the last 30 days:

  • Mew ex special illustration rare (152/128): £64.49, down 40%
  • Gengar ex special illustration rare (154/128): £53.44, down 36%
  • Mewtwo ex special illustration rare (151/128): £41.89, down 34%
  • Pikachu ex special illustration rare (150/128): £41.07, down 42%
  • Mew ex futuristic rare (158/128): £38.99, down 42%
  • Sylveon ex special illustration rare (153/128): £32.91, down 46%
  • Jirachi ex special illustration rare (155/128): £27.25, down 41%

Mew ex is the clearest example. Pulse had it at about £139 in mid-September, and it has fallen almost every week since. Fewer copies are changing hands too. In the last seven days, Mew ex sold at a rate about 39% below its 30-day average.

Sealed product

Sealed has dropped less. The Elite Trainer Box is around £117.60, down 18% in 30 days. The Night version of the Ultra-Premium Collection fell 15% in the last week to about £339, while the Day version went the other way, up about 4% to around £424. The Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box is around £163 after a 17% drop this week.

Why it's happening

This is a common pattern for a big new set. Prices start high while supply is short, then fall as more product reaches shops and more boxes get opened. Wave 2 of some 30th Celebration products, including the Mew Figure Collection, is still due in November, so more supply is on the way. Nobody knows where prices will settle, so if you're buying to keep, it makes sense to watch the market for a few weeks first.
